A type "A" bag is constructed from non-treated insulating fabric. No requirements are specified for type "A" FIBC's as they are not intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. No static protection.
A type "B" bag is constructed from insulating fabric but has a breakdown voltage less than 4KV. This provision prevents the risk of energetic propagating brush discharges which can ignite dust-air mixture. Type "B" bags may be used in the presence of the combustible dusts with MIE of greater than 3mj but in the absence of flammable vapours of gases with low breakdown voltage.
A type "C" bag (or Conductive bag) is constructed from fabrics having inter-connected conductive threads and films to get the electric charges (generated during fill and discharge of product due to friction), discharged to ground using conductive tabs stitched at the multiple points on the FIBC . The bag must be electrically grounded during filling and emptying.
A type "D" (or Dissipative bag) is constructed from antistatic fabric that includes static dissipative threads to discharge the electrical charges (generated during fill and discharge of product due to friction). These bags do not require any Grounding arrangement.
A UN certified bag is certified for storage and transportation of UN declared hazardous product. Such bags can be of all Construction and Types. The bags can be tested by certifying authorities by paying testing charges. On successful tests of the bags, a unique UN number are issued which needs to be either printed on labels stitched on the bag or be printed the bag itself.
An industrial clean bag can be of any construction and type when the bag can be used for filling industrial products (or Non- food grade products) however the materials used in the bags are approved for food grade contact.
Food grade bags are bags that are made with the intent of putting food products into the bags. These bags are produced in a clean room arrangement.
